Join MAPE@Macalester College to show support for a fair contract picket

MAPE's bargaining unit at Macalester College is holding its first informational picket to draw attention to the need for a fair contract. Negotiators do not feel Macalester College administration is making a genuine effort to reach a fair contract. College administrators have had months to provide serious proposals and have failed to do so.

MAPE has made it clear that our central priority is to protect existing benefits the college already provides and to have a seat at the table when changes are made. The Employer continues to provide language allowing them to make changes at any time to many of the existing benefits, including removal of the winter break and the Dependent Tuition Assistance Program (DTAP) where the college provides tuition benefits for eligible faculty and staff dependents attending participating colleges and universities. Removal of existing benefits undermines the central purpose of a contract.
