Shapiro Admin. Delivers $900,000 to Fire Departments and Training Centers

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) has released grant awards totaling $900,000 to municipal fire departments and emergency services training centers across the Commonwealth through the Municipal Fire Department Grant and Emergency Training Center Capitol Grant programs.

The needs of Pennsylvania's fire service continue to grow. These grants help to ensure our municipal fire departments and training centers have the resources required to protect their communities and train our emergency responders. Investing in safer, more modern facilities and equipment strengthens our first responders and supports the critical mission they carry out every day.

These competitive annual programs provide up to $100,000 in funding, per grantee, to support capital-intensive needs such as modernizing facilities, acquiring or renovating structures, and purchasing or repairing essential emergency equipment. This year, grants are being used for a variety of purposes including:

• Establishing a new regional training facility in Washington County,
• Acquiring critical training, radio, lighting and safety equipment in Clinton County,
• Purchasing and installing thermal imaging-compatible rescue dummies, a forcible entry door prop system, and more in Montgomery County,
• Acquiring and installing exhaust capture and generator systems in Montgomery, Franklin, Luzerne, and Warren Counties.
