BREAKING: Jon Husted Lives In Data Center Lobbyist's Home, Receiving Sweetheart Rent Deal

October 31, 2026

COLUMBUS, OHIO - New bombshell reporting shows that Jon Husted - the face of data centers in Ohio - has been living in a data center lobbyist's home in Washington, D.C., receiving a sweetheart deal from the Meta lobbyist for rent. This comes as Meta is building the world's largest data center in Ohio.

Politico reports that both Husted and his data center lobbyist landlord declined to say how much Husted pays for rent in this deeply unusual arrangement.

Ohio Democratic Party Senior Communications Advisor Tony Wen released the following statement:

"Jon Husted - the face of data centers - is literally living in a massive data center lobbyist's home, getting a sweetheart deal in rent from the Meta lobbyist. This is just another example of how Jon Husted will always put special interests and his billionaire donors before hardworking Ohioans."

Politico Influence: The lobbyist landlord to two senators

  • Sens. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) and Todd Young (R-Ind.) live in apartments in Washington that they rent from a lobbyist who works for Fortune 100 companies including Meta, Boeing and Wells Fargo, Daniel L. reports.
  • When they're in Washington, Husted and Young stay at separate apartments in a multi-family house owned by veteran lobbyist David Lugar, co-chair of 535 Group and chair of The Lugar Group.
  • Lugar did not respond to questions on how much the lawmakers are paying in rent.
  • Lugar represents Meta, which is building the world's largest data center in Ohio. Data center issues have been a major issue in the race, as Husted has tried to distance himself from his past actions.
  • He helped put the state's data center tax breaks in place as lieutenant governor, a position he held until 2025.
  • In recent months, he unsuccessfully pushed a Senate bill aimed at compelling tech companies to cover utility costs associated with data center buildouts.
  • The spokespeople also did not respond to questions on how much the lawmakers are paying in rent.
