Pavement removal and replacement with new concrete will take place at the area before the bridge deck of the eastbound US 50 to Business 80/Capital City Freeway and southbound State Route 99 (SR 99) connectors. For the safety of workers and to allow enough room for equipment at the work site, lane #4 on eastbound US 50 will be closed from 24th Street to 26th Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. throughout the weekend.

Connectors Closure:

  • Eastbound US 50 connector ramp to eastbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway
  • Eastbound US 50 connector ramp to southbound SR 99

Ramps Closures:

  • 16th Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50
  • Eastbound US 50 to 59th Street off-ramp

Suggested Detour:

Motorists on eastbound US 50:

  • Turn left onto 65th Street and take the 65th Street loop on-ramp to westbound US 50
  • From westbound US 50, the off-ramp to connect with southbound SR 99 is Exit 6B.
  • From westbound US 50, the off-ramp to connect with northbound Business80/Capital City Freeway is Exit 6C.

Alternate detour options:

  1. Traffic heading southbound on I-5 from north of US 50 are advised to continue southbound on I-5.
  2. Traffic heading from Yolo 50 to eastbound US 50 are advised to use I-5.
  3. Traffic heading northbound on I-5 to eastbound US 50 are advised to continue northbound on I-5.

The ongoing work is part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.
