The sixth suspect involved in the September 26, 2021 fatal shooting of Ja'Niya Birdsong, 16, on Eckhart Drive was arrested by TITANS Unit detectives last night on five outstanding grand jury indictments.
Dadiri Muhina, now 24, was indicted on first-degree murder charges as well as evidence tampering after the continued investigation identified him as the last suspect who played a role in Birdsong's death and the wounding of a 17-year-old girl.
Mohamed Sowa, now 25, who was arrested in November 2021, was reportedly arguing outside with the 17-year-old victim, his ex-girlfriend, when he drove off and gunshots rang out towards the two girls.
Birdsong died at the scene. The 17-year-old suffered non-critical injuries.
Abas Muhina, now 23, Abdirahmani Muhina, now 26, Mohamed Awees, now 24, and Daquan Pate, now 22, were all arrested in 2023 on grand jury indictments.
