We do not want a controlled decay of Prague Airport

The Trade Union Association of Bohemia, Moravia & Silesia expresses its solidarity, understanding and support to five trade union organizations that declared a strike emergency on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to express their disagreement and concerns about the appointment of Mr. Radomír Lašák to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.

Although the Minister of Finance Ms. Alena Schillerová assured that the concerns of the unions are misplaced and that the government is not planning any layoffs or organizational upheavals in the company, we are convinced that the concerns of our trade union colleagues are justified. Especially when taking into consideration Radomír Lašák's work at the head of Czech Airlines from 2006 to 2009, i.e. at a time of significantly deteriorating economic results of the national Czech air carrier, at a time of significant layoffs of employees and preparations for privatization.

We also see as a very strong reason the fact that the government intends to go public with some of the Prague Airport's shares, while the intention of changes in the structure of the airport, financing of its operation and personnel status of employees are not clear.

We hereby join the call to the government of the Czech Republic to urgently reconsider its approach to Prague Airport and its intentions with it.
