The 2026 NSF EPSCoR Annual Summit will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana from May 20-22, 2026, and is hosted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). This national event is designed to promote capacity-building activities and inspire EPSCoR Jurisdictions to discuss new and innovative ways to impact their home Jurisdictions in STEM research and education.
Idaho has been allocated 12 travel awards to support participation in the Summit. These awards will be administered through the Idaho EPSCoR Office. Travel awards cover registration, lodging and transportation arranged centrally by the conference organizers. The deadline to submit a request is 5 p.m. PT, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026.
PIs/Co-PIs of active NSF EPSCoR RII awards should plan to use their project funding for travel to the event and are not eligible for these travel awards.
Active EPSCoR Award Participants:
Up to 10 awards are available to individuals currently involved in an active EPSCoR award whose travel is not already supported by their project budget. This may include project staff, researchers, students, postdocs, education/outreach personnel, community partners, or industry partners.
Prospective EPSCoR Members:
Up to two awards are available to individuals not currently supported on an active EPSCoR award, but who are connected to EPSCoR activities, recently completed projects, or are prospective future NSF EPSCoR participants or collaborators.
Because the number of available travel awards is limited, requests may exceed available slots. If that occurs, the Idaho EPSCoR Office will apply a fair and transparent selection process before submitting the final and waitlist names to AAAS.
In making decisions, Idaho EPSCoR will consider factors such as role and contribution, benefit to Idaho EPSCoR capacity, institutional and partner balance across the state, student/postdoc participation, and alignment with Summit goals. Individuals from Primarily Undergraduate Institutions and Tribal Nations are encouraged to apply.
To be considered for a travel award, please submit requests by 5 p.m. PT, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026.
Those requesting travel support must be committed to attend if selected. Selected nominees must complete their individual registration by the noted conference deadline once contacted by AAAS, or the award may be reassigned.
