Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Park Il

December 4, 2025 14:30 KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today's briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun will hold the 6th Korea-Pacific Islands Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the morning of December 9, inviting the 18 members of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), a major regional consultative body in the Pacific, as well as the Secretary General of the PIF.

This year's meeting marks the first Korea-Pacific Islands Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held since Korea expanded invitations to all PIF members.

The meeting will take place under the theme "Partnership for Resilient, Peaceful, and Prosperous Pacific." Participants will particularly engage in extensive discussions on ways to enhance practical cooperation in a wide range of areas, including development cooperation, climate change, ocean, maritime affairs and fisheries, and people-to-people exchange, as well as on regional situation and global cooperation.

On the margins of the meeting, Minister Cho will also hold bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of key participating countries, including Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.

If there are no questions, I will conclude today's briefing.
