From student to recruiter: OSUIT alumna returns to share lessons from the field

Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology students forged invaluable connections for their future careers during the Spring 2026 Career Fair earlier this month.

A bevy of companies and businesses from a wide range of Oklahoma industries were on hand to present potential job opportunities to OSUIT students who are interested in laying the groundwork for their upcoming careers.

Representatives from companies such as Flintco, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Saint Francis Health System, Tulsa Pier Drilling, Georgia-Pacific, Muscogee Nation Department of Health, Prism Electric and ExxonMobil spoke with the students about jobs and internships.

Sterling Moore, an OSUIT graduate, works for Flintco, a Tulsa-based commercial construction company, and was at the Career Fair to speak with students about potential careers with the company. She said she was impressed by the students she met.

"A lot of hard workers, I've noticed, and a lot of people willing to learn and travel," Moore said. "Lots of resumes in hand and lots of conversations to be had."

Moore shared personal reflections about his time at OSUIT with the students. She told the students that OSUIT provided her with priceless lessons that continue to guide him as he advances along in his career.

She said OSU taught her the importance of establishing and maintaining relationships and connections.

"Relationships are with you through your whole entire life, your whole entire career, your personal life and your professional life. So, it's really important to have those relationships built, especially when you're young," she said.

Moore advises OSUIT students to say "yes" to all potential career opportunities.

"You're only young once. Get out there. Try something new. Don't be afraid to step out and be uncomfortable because you're going to grow when you're uncomfortable, and just go out and embrace it," Moore said. "Go see people. Go meet people. Go try new things. If you want to switch careers, switch careers. Try it out and just gain as much experience as you can."
