Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) is hosting its first-ever Community Cat Day in Tiger Point for Santa Rosa County residents on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Tiger Point Community Center, 1370 Tiger Park Lane . This event will offer free spay/neuter services for up to 30 stray/feral cats.
Participants must be Santa Rosa County residents and show proof of residency. Each person can bring up to three community cats, and spots are first-come, first-served . Cats must be at least three months old, weigh over three pounds, and be outdoor, unowned, and free-roaming.
Each cat will be spayed or neutered, given a rabies vaccine, and receive an ear tip to show that the cat has been fixed.
Residents are responsible for trapping and transporting cats to and from the Tiger Point Community Center. Cats must be dropped off at the community center at 8 a.m. (Thursday, Oct. 16) and picked up from 8-9 a.m. the following day (Friday, Oct. 17) . Cats will be accepted based on health, size, and arrival order - residents should plan to arrive early to secure a spot.
Cats must come in a humane trap - not a carrier or kennel - and only one cat per trap. A limited number of traps can be rented from SRCAS for a $65 deposit (cash or check only). Trap rentals will be available on Monday, Oct. 13, from 8-9 a.m. at the Tiger Point Community Center. Deposits will be returned when the trap is brought back.
