Harshbarger Votes to Fully Fund ICE and Border Patrol for Remainder of the Trump Presidency

Washington, D.C. -
Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Secure America Act , the budget reconciliation bill to fully fund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). All funds are available through September 30, 2029, carrying through the remainder of President Trump's presidency.

"We said we would fund the wall, fund the agents, and fund the mission. Today, we delivered," said Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger. "Time and again, Senate Democrats voted to defund our border personnel-turning their backs on the men and women standing between our communities and the cartels, the traffickers, and the fentanyl poisoning our kids. Thanks to this bill, for as long as President Trump is in office, our border will stay secured, the agents protecting our families will keep receiving their paychecks, and the Biden open borders nightmare stays exactly where it belongs: in the past."

The budget reconciliation process allows Congress to pass certain fiscal legislation through the Senate with a simple majority vote, bypassing the 60-vote threshold to overcome a filibuster. The reconciliation bill builds on S. Con. Res. 33, the budget resolution Congresswoman Harshbarger voted for on April 30, 2026, which laid the framework for this funding.

The Secure America Act includes:

  • $38 billion for ICE.
  • $26 billion for CBP.
  • $5 billion in additional funds to DHS to ensure the department's critical national security and law enforcement work isn't further interrupted by Democrats' radical, defund-the-police agenda.
