Long Beach, CA - As the City of Long Beach celebrates Digital Inclusion Week, the City's Department of Technology and Innovation will host a series of free Community Workshops on Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Skills and Data Privacy throughout the month of October 2025. The workshops will provide critical information to equip residents with the skills and confidence needed to navigate today's digital world and the rapidly evolving landscape of AI.
Through engaging presentations, hands-on activities and live demonstrations of common AI tools, participants will gain a clear understanding of Generative AI and how the City of Long Beach is using it. Participants will have the opportunity to gain experience using AI tools safely and effectively in addition to learning how to implement practical data privacy and cybersecurity tips in their everyday lives.
Workshop Dates and Locations:
The 90-minute workshops are free to attend and open to all levels of AI experience. Each workshop will cover the same content, ensuring all participants have consistent access to the information. Food and refreshments will be provided. Residents are encouraged to register in advance at lbcity.info/aiprivacy.
Interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog will be available upon request; to ensure accommodation, please request in advance when registering for a workshop.
The Community Workshop Series supports the City's efforts in increasing digital inclusion, promoting safe and effective use of emerging technologies and strengthening public understanding of data privacy and AI. Last month, the City was named a winner in the inaugural AI 50 Awards, a new recognition from the Center for Public Sector AI, a national research and advisory institute focused on technology policy and best practices in state and local government. This honor reflects Long Beach's real-world AI impact and the City's commitment to improving public service through more innovative and responsible technology.
