U.S. Factories Lose 12K jobs in February

Trade stability and enforcement critical as factories face potential energy shock.

For Immediate Release: March 6, 2026

Washington, D.C. - U.S. factories lost 12,000 jobs in February, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday.

Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul said:

"This February jobs report was far weaker than I had hoped, particularly after a slight bump up for manufacturing in January. There are many factors swirling around - AI, bad weather, tariff volatility, and much more. With a potential energy shock on the horizon, there may be even worse news to come.

"I hope the White House will continue to address unfair trade practices to open markets abroad and defend our workers and businesses here at home. I also hope the Federal Reserve doesn't raise interest rates, which could drive further job losses in factories."

As America's factories attempt to navigate these pressures, the U.S. microelectronics industry is reclaiming global leadership. A new documentary, directed by award-winning filmmaker Carl Kriss, reveals America's journey from inventing the semiconductor to offshoring the industry to charging a new generation of manufacturers with securing the nation's tech future. RSVP to attend the 20-minute showing and the expert panel discussion at D.C.'s Miracle Theatre at 6 p.m. on March 25.
