WASHINGTON, D.C. - Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) Vice Chairman Travis Voyles welcomed seven new Council members appointed by President Donald J. Trump and officially sworn in to office on January 8 and 9.
"We thank President Trump for appointing these highly accomplished professionals to the ACHP and know their expertise will prove essential during their service on the Council," Voyles said. "I look forward to working with them as we set a course forward for the national preservation program."
Michael Boos , a General Public Member from Manassas, VA, is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Citizens United in Washington, DC.
Jaime Gardner , a General Public Member from Yuma, CO, is Executive Vice President at Novitas Communications in Denver and owner of High Plains Communications, LLC.
Margaret Everson , an Expert Member from Maryland, is the founder and principal of Mill Run Strategies and a former National Park Service Acting Director and Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Forest Service.
Rick Gonzalez , AIA, an Expert Member from West Palm Beach, FL, is a nationally recognized architect and president of REG Architects in Palm Beach, FL. He previously served as an ACHP Expert Member, including a period as Vice Chairman, from 2020 to 2023.
Kyle Scherer , an Expert Member from Hyattsville, MD, is a partner in the Environmental and Natural Resources Group at Venable LLP.
Mayor Robert Simison , the ACHP Mayor Member, from Meridian, ID, has served the residents of Meridian as its 26th Mayor since 2020 and previously served as the ACHP Mayor Member from 2020 to 2023.
John Tahsuda III of Annapolis, MD, a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, is the ACHP Indian Tribe Member. He isa Principal with Navigators Global LLC, a full-service issues management, government relations, and strategic communications firm located in Washington, DC.
The ACHP anticipates swearing in two additional Council members before the end of this month.
Travis Voyles was appointed by President Trump in April 2025 as an expert member and vice chairman and carries out the functions of the chairman. He will continue to carry out these functions until a new chairman is sworn in after being nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
