HDOT to study long-range coastal resilience along windward coast

Community Input Critical to Future Planning

HONOLULU - The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) is encouraging public participation in the Kamehameha Highway Long-Range Coastal Resilience Study (KHRS), encompassing the windward coastal corridor from Kualoa to Hauʻula along Kamehameha Highway. The highway's vulnerability to flooding and erosion threatens the safety, connectivity and economic vitality of people, homes and businesses in the region.

ary School on Thursday, September 24 from 6 - 8 p.m. This will be the first of two community meetings on the KHRS. This will be your opportunity to have your input heard on the matter of the future of this area. The focus of the study is to evaluate potential adaptation scenarios for sea level rise along the corridor for long-term planning from now to 2100.

Requests made at least 72 hours before the meeting will help HDOT ensure arrangements can be made.
