COSF Takes Final Steps in the Community Engagement Cycle of the Comprehensive Planning Process

SOUTH FULTON, GA - (September 12, 2025) - The City of South Fulton announced the successful completion of the most recent community engagement cycle in the development of its Comprehensive Plan, the City's official long-range policy document that directs growth, preservation, and development over the next 25 years.

This engagement cycle was designed to align with nationally recognized best practices for inclusive and transparent civic participation. The process incorporated both a citywide virtual survey and a series of public sessions held throughout the community during the fiscal year. Together, these activities provided residents with multiple pathways to participate, recognizing that effective planning requires both accessibility and diversity of input.

The survey, which officially opened on April 14, 2025, invited residents to share perspectives on critical issues such as housing, transportation, and other aspects of community growth. Public engagement sessions further enabled structured discussions on land use and long-term growth strategies. These sessions were intentionally distributed across the city to maximize accessibility, advance equity in participation, and ensure that feedback reflected the perspectives of a broad cross-section of the community.

The results of this completed engagement cycle will directly inform the forthcoming draft of the Comprehensive Plan, which remains on track for adoption by the end of the year. The plan is updated every five years in accordance with state requirements and serves as the City's foundational policy guide for land use, infrastructure investment, and economic development.

Assistant City Manager, Carmen Davis, stated, "By fostering the inclusive dialogue and coordinated action this process provided, we are ensuring that the City of South Fulton's growth is sustainable, equitable, and reflective of the community's shared vision."

In addition, the City will hold a public hearing at the upcoming Planning Commission. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their input on the record regarding this Comprehensive Plan update.
