Network Operator Groups (NOGs), like Timor-Leste Network Operators' Group (TLNOG), are informal communities where network engineers, operators, and technical professionals collaborate on topics like routing, security, peering, and Internet operations.
TLNOG was established in August 2024 and officially registered in July 2025 at the Notary Ministry of Justice in Timor-Leste to support Timor-Leste's local network community by facilitating technical knowledge exchange, training, and skills development. Through events like workshops, seminars, and conferences, TLNOG aims to strengthen both technical capacity and broader stakeholder engagement across the region.
As connectivity expands across the region, building local technical expertise and strengthening network resilience have become important priorities. TLNOG 2, held from 19 to 21 November 2025, will provide a platform for professionals in Timor-Leste to enhance their practical skills, exchange knowledge with peers, and engage with international experts in Internet operations and cybersecurity.
APNIC Academy training
The event will open with a two-day Network Security Workshop on 19 and 20 November, led by APNIC's Manager, Development Shane Hermoso, and Affan Basalamah, an APNIC Community Trainer. This hands-on workshop explores essential principles of network security, covering protocols, policies, and practices to safeguard data and infrastructure. Participants will learn how to build secure, resilient networks and respond effectively to common security incidents.
Conference
On 21 November 2025, the TLNOG2 Network Security Conference will bring together local and regional experts to discuss developments in Internet security and infrastructure. Sessions will explore topics including IPv6 deployment, routing security, and local interconnection. Keynote speakers, APNIC Director General, Jia Rong Low, and Brigadeiro General José da Costa Soares 'Trix', will highlight the importance of collaboration in advancing the economy's network security.
