Press briefing on next week’s plenary session

Spokespersons for Parliament and for the political groups will hold a briefing on the 8 - 11 September plenary session, on Friday at 11.00 in Parliament's Anna Politkovskaya press room.

Key topics next week include:

  • State of the European Union: Address by Commission President von der Leyen and debate with MEPs
  • Debate on the EU-US trade deal and the prospect of further EU trade agreements
  • Debate with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on EU action to ensure security guarantees and a just peace for Ukraine, and on the country's progress towards EU membership (with a vote on the latter)
  • Debate with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Gaza, combatting famine, the release of hostages, and moving towards a two-state solution, with vote on an accompanying resolution
  • Address by Moldovan President Maia Sandu and debate on Russian hybrid threats and interference in the country, with vote on a resolution
