Director-General of American and South Pacific Affairs Department meets with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Regional Security Policy and Public Diplomacy, U.S. Department of State

On 8 September 2025, Ms. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, had a discussion with Mr. Robert T. Koepcke, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Security Policy and Public Diplomacy, Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of State, on the occasion of his visit to Thailand.

Both sides discussed the longstanding relations and close cooperation between Thailand and the U.S. and ways to further enhance cooperation at the regional level. This includes security and law enforcement cooperation, especially combating online scams which have caused great losses for both Thais and Americans, as well as cooperation in ASEAN and the Mekong - U.S. Partnership, which Thailand co-chairs with the U.S. this year. Both sides also exchanged views on key U.S. foreign affairs priorities and developments in issues of mutual interest such as the Quad and the situation in the South China Sea.

In addition, the Director-General also shared updates on the Thailand - Cambodia border situation and reaffirmed Thailand's full commitment to the ceasefire and a peaceful solution through bilateral mechanisms.
