Mayor Kapszukiewicz Announces Start of Toledo’s 2026 Leaf Collection Season

Mayor Kapszukiewicz helped City crews collect leaves at Westwood Park on Tuesday, marking the start of Toledo's 2026 leaf collection season. City Councilman George Sarantou also took part as the City prepares for six weeks of collection.

Last year, City crews collected 114,301 cubic yards of leaves and completed collection across more than 1,644 miles of roadway.

This year, crews will begin collecting leaves the week of Nov. 2 in ZIP codes 43623 and 43613. Weather and time permitting, crews will then move to ZIP codes 43606, 43615, 43614 and 43607.

The program is scheduled to run for six weeks, giving crews time to collect as many leaves as possible before the first snowfall.

Crews will work seven days a week, except Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26. The City will announce collection schedules each Friday, showing where crews plan to work the following week and the week after. Please note: The schedule may change or be delayed depending on snow and ice events.

How Residents Can Prepare
Residents can help crews collect leaves safely and efficiently by following a few simple steps.

Rake leaves to the curb no more than two days before the scheduled collection date.

Keep storm inlets clear of leaves to help prevent clogged sewers and flooding.

Move vehicles off the street when crews are scheduled to collect leaves. No-parking signs will be posted three to four days before collection.

What to Do if You Miss Collection
Residents who miss their scheduled collection should not place leaves in the street. Instead, they can compost or mulch leaves at home, dispose of them in their gray trash containers or take them to one of the City's designated drop-off sites.

Leaf drop-off sites will be open Nov. 2, 2026, through Jan. 8, 2027, at these locations:
Bowman Park, 4671 Jackman Road, 43612
Detwiler Park, 3775 Manhattan Boulevard, 43611
Ravine Park I, 1600 Mott Avenue, 43605
Woodsdale Park, 1226 Woodsdale Avenue, 43614
Elmdale Woodlot, 221 Elmdale Road, 43607 (open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday)
