NYC Release Party To Take Place At Night Club 101 On Oct 7
|
October 3, 2025 : Gatlin has released her debut album The Eldest Daughter, out now via Dualtone Records. The ten song collection finds the Los Angeles-based, Florida-born musician reflecting on her experiences coming out in a close-minded community, resulting in an unflinching confrontation of her past and beautiful reclamation of self. It is her cathartic exploration of sexuality, identity, family, and faith that transforms the weight of her Southern upbringing into bold, self-assured songwriting.
The album opens with "Florida Man," a radiant declaration of freedom from the hometown and state that tried to silence her queerness. "This song is my empowering statement about the life my family and community growing up wanted for me," says Gatlin. "I wanted it to soar and to feel free in the production because the lyric is not only about taking control of the life I've decided to live, but sticking up for it."Written in London, the track channels the Britrock glow of The Verve and Primal Scream, a triumphant dismissal of the narrow expectations that confined her: "Now I'm in a bluer state / Was over your prude parade/ It's my life / It don't look like yours." "Florida Man" emerges as one of the record's central motifs - a mix of warm nostalgia layered with the weight of the tradition she's breaking away from.

Previous advance tracks from The Eldest Daughter include the achingly poignant album centerpiece " Soho House Valet ," along with " Happy " and " Pipe Dream " - both candid reflections on mental health in the music industry; read more via Rolling Stone . Earlier this summer, Gatlin also shared " Jesus Christ & Country Clubs " - "a defiant and proud middle finger to those that don't accept her for who she is" (Ones To Watch) - and " If She Was A Boy ," which finds Gatlin reminiscing on a crush from early in her coming out journey, and was named a Song You Need To Know by Rolling Stone and one of GLAAD's Best Songs Of The Week.
Written between Nashville, Los Angeles, and a transformative period working in London, The Eldest Daughter features contributions from acclaimed women creatives including Jennifer Decilveo (Miley Cyrus, Hozier), Liza Owen (Carly Rae Jepsen, Selena Gomez), and Tessa Mouzourakis (Tommy Lefroy), with Gatlin producing or co-producing much of the record herself. What emerges is a collection rooted in Gatlin's sharp wit and raw storytelling as she unpacks her experiences with queerness, mental health, gender roles and family tension.
To celebrate The Eldest Daughter, Gatlin will be hosting an official album release party at New York City's Nightclub 101 on Tuesday, October 7. Recent highlights include being named Spotify's GLOW Spotlight Artist for the month of September , affirming her voice as an LGBTQ+ artist and rising creative force in the community, which also saw her featured on a Times Square billboard in NYC . Earlier this month, Gatlin also hosted a sold-out album preview party at Los Angeles' In The Meantime . For more info visit: https://www.gatlinmusic.com/
