OUTCOMES OF THE WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF
FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKIYE

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Mohamad bin Alamin undertook a working visit to Antalya, Republic of Türkiye, from 10 to 13 April 2025 to participate in the 4 th Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF).
The Deputy Foreign Minister was one of the speakers in a discussion entitled "ASEAN's Evolving Role at Regional and Global Levels". Other speakers were Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye A Berris Ekinci, and Associate Professor from the Social Sciences University of Ankara, Dr Hatice Çelik.
Moderated by Datuk Prof. Dr. Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Chairman of ISIS Malaysia, the session featured remarks by the Deputy Foreign Minister, who underscored Malaysia's pivotal role in nurturing trust and inclusivity among ASEAN Member States. He emphasised that Malaysia, as Chair of ASEAN, continues to serve as a bridge-builder within the region, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding. Malaysia is firmly dedicated to reinforcing ASEAN's centrality, ensuring that the association remains the primary driving force in regional affairs while upholding the principles of neutrality and non-alignment. He also highlighted Malaysia's commitment to engaging constructively with major global powers, advocating for a balanced and principled foreign policy approach amid increasing geopolitical tensions. In navigating an evolving and unpredictable global landscape, Malaysia aims to promote unity within ASEAN and enhance the bloc's resilience, relevance, and responsiveness to regional and global challenges.
On the sidelines of ADF 2025, the Deputy Foreign Minister also held meetings with several of his counterparts, including the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Khuon Phon Rattanak; State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia Ali Mohamed Omar; Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Thandi Moraka; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye A. Berris Ekinci.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also had the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen Dr. Shaya Mohsin Mohamed Zindani. The discussions centred on bilateral relations, Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, regional and international issues, particularly the situation in the Middle East.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs will travel to Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, from 14 to 16 April 2025 to co-chair the 2 nd Malaysia-Azerbaijan Political Consultation.
