ICYMI: Rep. McBride Hosts Info Session to Help Delawareans Prepare for Retirement

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Last week, U.S. Representative Sarah McBride (D-Del.) hosted an informational session, "Ready, Set, Retire! Financial Must Knows for Those 55 and Up," in Sussex County. The event connected Delawareans preparing for retirement with resources and information on everything from aging services and Medicare to financial planning and taxes. Photos from the event can be found here.

"It can be hard enough to get ahead in today's economy, let alone think about and plan for retirement," said Rep. McBride. "I'm proud that my office brought together so many incredible partners to connect Delawareans directly with the information and resources they need to plan for their futures. Our office will continue to be there for Delawareans, and I'll continue to fight to protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid so they can retire with the security and dignity they deserve."

Delawareans had the opportunity to connect with a number of organizations and agencies, including The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, AARP of Delaware, CLASI Elder Law Services, Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau, Division of Medicaid & Medical Assistance, Life Happens, State Long Term Care Ombudsman, Delaware Department of Justice Adult Protective Services, and Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities.

The "Ready, Set, Retire!" informational session is part of Rep. McBride's commitment to connecting Delawareans with the services and support they need. Since taking office, her constituent advocacy team has returned more than $7.5 million in backlogged federal benefits and refunds to Delawareans and regularly hosts community-centered events, including Mobile Office Hours across the state and the Emergency Preparedness Fair. In June, her office was awarded Best Constituent Service in Congress.

Delawareans experiencing issues with a federal agency are encouraged to visit McBride.house.gov or contact Rep. McBride's Wilmington office at 302-830-2330 for assistance.
