This afternoon, at the third edition of the National Conference on Export, a special session will be dedicated to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the first decentralised Winter Olympics, involving 11 venues across four Regions, with an estimated economic impact of EUR 5.3 billion and new infrastructure benefiting the host territories.
The event will provide further impetus to the sports value chain, which alone accounts for 1.4% of Italy's GDP, generates EUR 24.7 billion in value added, employs over 400,000 people and records EUR 4.7 billion in exports of sporting goods, with an additional potential of EUR 650 million. In global trade in sporting goods, Italy holds a 3.79% share of exports, higher than its share of total exports. To promote the sector, sports diplomacy initiatives over the past two years have delivered more than 400 activities.
