The Shire extends its sincere thanks to local emergency service teams, Shire Works staff, essential service providers and community members for their swift and dedicated response to the severe weather event that impacted the region over the WA Day long weekend.

Shire President Vivienne MacCarthy said the coordinated response across agencies and crews had been critical in helping the community recover safely and quickly.

"On behalf of Council and the Shire, we are incredibly grateful to DFES, our local SES and Bush Fire Brigades, Shire Works staff, and Western Power crews for the professionalism and commitment they've shown under very challenging conditions. Their efforts to clear fallen trees and debris, restore access to roads and bridges, and work towards reconnecting power for affected residents have made a real difference during a difficult time for many in our community."

CEO Nicholas (Nick) O'Connor also acknowledged the strong community spirit shown throughout the event and its aftermath.

"We also want to thank the many community members who stepped forward to help with removing debris, responding to calls for assistance, and checked in on neighbours who were more vulnerable during the damaging winds, communication outages and power loss. This care, cooperation and willingness to support one another speaks volumes about the resilience and strength of our community."

The Shire also wishes to thank the community for their patience, understanding, and assistance shown - your support has significantly assisted our staff and volunteers in the ongoing clean-up across the district.
