HARRISBURG - Nearly $48,000 in state funding was awarded to fire departments in Schuylkill County, according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Reps. Tim Twardzik (R-123), Jamie Barton (R-124), JoAnne Stehr (R-107) and Dane Watro (R-116).
These dollars can be used for the purchase of critical wildfire suppression equipment, protective gear, communications tools and training.

This funding was awarded through a cost-share grant program which provides up to $15,000 to rural fire companies serving municipalities with less than 10,000 residents. The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
