Michael Buchler joined the City of Garland as the Capital Project Management Director on April 14. In this role, he will oversee the planning, execution and delivery of key capital projects, ensuring efficiency, quality and alignment with organizational goals.
With 27 years of experience in commercial construction management, Buchler has successfully led large-scale projects across various sectors. For the past two years, he served as the Assistant Director of the Capital Improvement Program for the City of Irving, where he played a key role in overseeing infrastructure projects and capital investments. His expertise spans project planning, cost control, risk management and team leadership, making him a valuable asset in driving projects from conception to completion.
In addition to his leadership in capital project management, Buchler is an Adjunct Professor of Construction Management at Collin College, where he shares his industry knowledge and experience with the next generation of construction professionals.
Buchler is a graduate of Purdue University and has a bachelor's degree in Construction Management and an associate's degree in Civil Engineering. His technical knowledge, strategic mindset and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in delivering high-quality projects that enhance communities and support long-term growth.
Outside of work, Buchler enjoys spending quality time with his wife, reading, traveling and watching his two daughters excel at Oklahoma State University.
