ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Winthrop University will mark a decade of promoting the importance of mental health and wellness at its annual Fresh Check Day, set for Thursday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Richardson Ballroom.

Developed by the Jordan Porco Foundation, this innovative initiative hopes to bring the entire campus community together to "check-in" on the mental health and well-being of college students through interactive booths, engaging activities and impactful exhibits. The event is free and open to all students, faculty and staff.

The Center for Student Wellness' Health Promotion division collaborates with various campus departments, student organizations and community-based prevention organizations to ideally create a space where students feel uplifted, supported and engaged as they discuss and learn more about mental health, wellness and suicide prevention.

"We are excited to host this milestone event and remain dedicated to promoting a supportive and inclusive campus environment," said Rosie Hopkins-Campbell, health promotion coordinator. "Fresh Check Day is an excellent opportunity to learn about mental health awareness and suicide prevention and to find vital support. We're working to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and foster a culture of wellness and support."
