Orange County, FL- Florida's Super Speeder Law, which targets dangerous excessive speeding, went into effect on July 1, 2025. The new law makes extreme speeding an arrestable offense. Drivers who exceed the posted speed limit by more than 50 mph or who travel faster than 100 mph now face harsher penalties. In its first three months, the Orange County Jail reports 70 bookings for excessive speeding.

Many of the arrest reports indicated the drivers navigated multiple unsignaled lane changes and tailgating putting themselves, their passengers and other motorists at risk.
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), speeding contributes to approximately 29% of all traffic fatalities in the United States.
Orange County Chief of Corrections Louis A. Quinones Jr. cautions drivers to think twice before accelerating. "Excessive speeding is a formula for failure because it drastically increases the potential for tragic consequences," he said.
