What to expect from Marketplace coverage in 2025

With health care costs continuing to rise, we're doing everything we can to lessen the impact and add value for our members who buy BlueCross coverage. People can get coverage on the Health Insurance Marketplace if they don't have health insurance through a job, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program, or another source of qualifying health coverage. Marketplace open enrollment runs from Nov. 1 through Jan. 15, and here's what to know about the plans we're offering for 2025:

  • Overall, our average rates for Marketplace plans will decrease slightly compared to last year.
  • There will be at least two BlueCross plan options for each of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Marketplace coverage levels.
  • Our 2025 Marketplace offerings feature $0 virtual care, including full primary care services, on most plans.
  • We're expanding our lowest-cost Blue Network E offering, with rates nearly 8% below Blue Network S, to Tennesseans shopping in the West and West Central regions that include Jackson, as well as the Knoxville market in East Tennessee.
  • Network E remains available in the Chattanooga, Nashville and Memphis markets, priced nearly 17% below Network S plans.

Network E expands to Knoxville and the West and West Central regions

In 2025, Tennesseans living in the greater Knoxville area and West Central Tennessee - the area between Memphis and Nashville that includes Jackson and runs to the upper northwest corner of the state - will have access to our lowest-cost Blue Network E for the first time.

With this expansion, Network E now serves nearly every part of the state, giving members who travel to different parts of Tennessee more options for in-network care.

More focused options for quicker selection

We've streamlined our offerings for next year, making a select number of plans available in three metallic categories on the Marketplace. There will be four Bronze options, four Silver options, and two Gold options, with variations available for both Network S and E depending on the region.

Members can choose benefit designs that fit their cost and coverage needs after reviewing premiums, deductibles (how much a member pays before insurance begins to cover care) and typical prescription medicine costs. Shoppers can check out the plans in their region on the Marketplace website. The 2025 plans and estimated prices will be available for preview just before the start of Open Enrollment on Nov. 1.

New this year: dental care for adults on certain plans

In 2025, some BlueCross Marketplace plan offerings will cover adult dental services. All plans will continue to provide coverage for pediatric dental care and vision services.

Keeping virtual primary, specialist and urgent care at no cost to you

Virtual care has been a popular, convenient option for our Marketplace members, and BlueCross will continue to make it available at no cost for those covered by most plans.

Through our Primary 360 Teladoc service, members can see a specific virtual provider for annual visits and follow-ups, with any needed lab work and imaging supported by providers in their community. The member's chosen virtual provider will review results and connect online to talk through findings and next steps as needed.

These plans will also cover virtual specialist care, from diabetes management and dermatology to psychiatry and beyond. And virtual urgent care services will remain available 24-7 for needs that arise after hours. All of these virtual services are available at no out-of-pocket cost for most members.

BlueCross members can continue to rely on health navigators and registered nurses to optimize their benefits and guide them toward the most suitable care options.

Rewards will continue

This year, members covered by a BlueCross individual plan can earn up to $400 in gift card rewards for certain health-related activities. Members can earn points for using a fitness tracker, as well as signing up for andusing the Teladoc Health service. Those who participate in certain health assessments, cancer screenings, or programs such as diabetes management or Healthy Maternity are also eligible to earn rewards.

When you can review and purchase coverage

Plans will be available for "window shopping" on Healthcare.gov in late October. The Marketplace open enrollment for customers who buy coverage on their own takes place between Nov. 1, 2024 and Jan. 15, 2025. Enroll by December 15 for coverage to take effect on January 1.
