House Passes Legislation to Study the Transfer of the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History to the Smithsonian Institution

Washington - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 7764 to establish a commission to study the potential transfer of the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History to the Smithsonian Institution.

"Antisemitism is on the rise and threatens the safety of all communities and institutions. Now more than ever, we must ensure that as many people as possible are informed about the many contributions of Jewish Americans and their history," Chairman Steil said. "By creating a commission to study being absorbed into the Smithsonian, it can be determined whether the Weitzman Museum can successfully fill this need with its educational content. This bill could not be more important right now."
