EAGLESWOOD VILLAGE WATER IMPROVEMENTS

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Oaks MHP LLC recently closed on a $2.2 million loan through the New Jersey Water Bank to finance critical drinking water upgrades for the Eagleswood Village Water System. The project includes construction of a new water treatment facility to replace the existing plant, which has reached the end of its useful service life.

The upgraded treatment system will remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS. PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals that have been widely used in industrial and consumer products for decades and are often referred to as "forever chemicals" because they do not easily break down in the environment. Long term exposure to PFAS has been linked to adverse health effects, and the compounds are present in the system's source water at levels exceeding New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection maximum contaminant standards.

The project also includes replacement of the existing hydropneumatic tank, which is used to maintain consistent water pressure throughout the distribution system by storing water under pressure. Additional upgrades include replacement of chemical feed systems for soda ash, phosphate, and sodium hypochlorite to improve water quality and corrosion control, as well as improvements to the supply wells to enhance sanitary protection and system reliability.
