The Government of Jersey Customer Hub at Union Street will introduce a weekly Quiet Hour from Thursday 1 October, providing a calmer environment for Islanders accessing services and support.
Quiet Hour will take place every Thursday from 3pm and is designed to reduce sensory stimulation within the Customer Hub, making it easier for customers who may benefit from a quieter environment.
During Quiet Hour:
The initiative has been developed as part of the Government's commitment to accessibility and inclusion. It follows engagement with the Learning Disabilities team, which has supported staff in understanding how services can be more inclusive for neurodivergent Islanders and others who may experience sensory sensitivities.
All Customer Hub staff have completed mandatory Hidden Disabilities training and online Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training.
A Customer Hub spokesperson said: "We are committed to making the Customer Hub accessible for everyone. Quiet Hour is a simple change that can make a meaningful difference for people who prefer a calmer environment when accessing services. By reducing noise and other sensory distractions, we hope to make it easier for more Islanders to access the support they need and create a welcoming and inclusive space for all."
The Customer Hub at Union Street provides access to a wide range of Government services and support for Islanders. Quiet Hour is open to all customers and no booking is required.
