PRESS STATEMENT 022

Spanish MFA summons Iranian Ambassador to Spain

Today
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation reports that the Iranian Ambassador to Spain was summoned today to convey Spain's strongest protest against the attacks launched against European territory.

Spain's strong condemnation of the indiscriminate and unjustified attacks against countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and other countries in the region was also conveyed to him. These attacks constitute flagrant violations of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as the sovereignty and integrity of those countries, and also endanger the civilian population, including tens of thousands of Spaniards living there.

Spain's condemnation of Hezbollah's missile launches and Israel's attack on Lebanon has also been reiterated.

Spain is firmly committed to regional security and reiterates its call for restraint on all sides and urgent de-escalation in the Middle East.
