The latest will open in the parking lot at 714 Madison Ave. on May 27

The Fast Charge TN network is expanding in Shelby County with the addition of two charging sites, bringing the total to 7 within the county. The latest, the Orleans Station site, will open Wednesday, May 27, in the parking lot at 714 Madison Ave., adjacent to Rock'n Dough Pizza & Brewery; a ribbon-cutting is scheduled from 10 - 11 a.m.

The location of the Orleans Station site is ideal because of its proximity to the I-40 corridor and access to food and retail; the site will have 4 Level-3 charging stations that can fully charge an electric vehicle in about 30-40 minutes.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water received a grant to open fast charge stations from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). The Orleans Station site is also a partnership with the University of Tennessee-Health Sciences Center and Henry Turley Company.

The second site will open, in partnership with the town of Collierville, at 175 Washington Street in June
