Stafford County Seeks Public Input Through Upcoming Comprehensive Plan Survey

Stafford County is inviting residents to help shape the community's future by participating in an upcoming public survey open from April 15 through April 27, 2026. Feedback gathered during this survey will play a key role in updating the County's Comprehensive Plan.

Virginia law requires counties to review their Comprehensive Plans at least once every five years. Stafford's current plan, last updated in 2021, is now being revised to reflect the needs and priorities of today's residents and future generations.

Why Your Input Matters

The Comprehensive Plan is one of Stafford County's most important guiding documents. It establishes a long-term vision for growth and development, helping determine:

  • Where and how development should occur
  • The future of housing and neighborhoods
  • Transportation improvements, including roads and transit
  • Planning for schools, public facilities and infrastructure
  • Protection of natural, cultural and historic resources

County officials rely on this plan when evaluating new development proposals, making public input essential to ensuring decisions reflect the community's vision.

Take the Survey: April 15-27

The upcoming survey is one of the first opportunities for residents to share their ideas and priorities. Community feedback will directly inform the goals, policies and decisions that guide Stafford County over the next 20 years.
