EFTA Deputy Secretary-General welcomes President of European Chamber of Commerce in Korea

EFTA Deputy Secretary-General Markus Schlagenhof met with the President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK), Stefan Ernst, on 23 October in Geneva, on the occasion of the annual publication of the ECCK WhitePaper. The ECCK represents the interests of businesses from both the EU and the EFTA States in Korea.

During the meeting, the ECCK President officially presented the 2025 White Paper, which includes 70 recommendations across 17 sectors for submission to the Korean Government. Mr Schlagenhof and Mr Ernst discussed recent policy developments in the EFTA States and Korea, bilateral economic relations, and opportunities for future collaboration aimed at further strengthening EFTA-Korea free trade relations.

The Republic of Korea is one of EFTA's most important trading partners, ranking as EFTA's fifth largest export partner and eighth largest import partner for goods. Total trade value between EFTA and Korea amounted to USD 7.25 billion in 2024.
