FASEB Issues Statement of Support for National Primate Research Centers

Wednesday, February 4, 2026
On February 3, the FASEB Board of Directors issued a Statement of Support for the National Primate Research Centers (NPRCs). The NPRCs are important national shared resource institutions that provide critical support for biomedical research addressing complex biological questions to the nation's top health challenges. Federal support for these institutions allows for this research to be conducted safely, with transparency and accountability, and at the highest caliber of scientific integrity.

On Monday, February 9, the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Board of Directors will be holding a public hearing on a resolution that would provide a pathway for OHSU to transition the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) to a primate sanctuary. Opportunity for public comment will be available during the meeting with prior registration or by submitting written public testimony on the OHSU website.
