The City of West Hollywood invites community members to a public meeting to review and discuss next steps for the proposed Fountain Avenue Streetscape Project. This is an opportunity to help guide improvements for one of West Hollywood's most important corridors. Learn about potential changes (lane reductions, parking changes, safety enhancements, and more), see the latest concept plans for the first component of the project, share thoughts and concerns with the project team, and help the City work through impacts and solutions.
The Fountain Avenue Streetscape Project community meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Plummer Park Community Center, Rooms 5 & 6, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard, beginning at 6 p.m. with an open house and refreshments followed by a presentation and Q&A session at 6:30 p.m.
The Fountain Avenue Streetscape Project envisions a complete transformation of Fountain Avenue, including wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes, new landscaping and street trees, upgraded street furniture and lighting, and other key safety enhancements. The project reflects community multimodal transportation priorities and is designed to improve overall safety, walkability, and livability along the corridor.
Phase 1 of the project will add protected bike lanes, reduce travel lanes from four to two, remove on-street parking on the north side of Fountain Avenue, and add new signage, striping, and additional crosswalk improvements. These safety improvements will help the City and the community understand the potential benefits and impacts of the project and help to inform the final design before the complete streetscape project is constructed (Phase 2). Significant funding for the Fountain Avenue Streetscape Project comes from the California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment - particularly in disadvantaged communities.
