ORANGE, CT. - November 5, 2025 - Avangrid, Inc., a leading energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that Central Maine Power (CMP), New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) have installed over 650 smart devices in 2025 across their territories. These smart devices strengthen reliability for more than 1.3 million customers in Maine and Upstate New York.

"Modernizing the grid is essential to delivering safe, reliable service to our customers, especially as weather events become more extreme," said Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda. "These 650 new smart devices are a powerful example of how innovation can improve resilience, building a grid that responds faster, restores power quicker, and better serves the communities that depend on us."

Smart devices provide the energy control centers with live readings of the grid. Whenever an outage occurs, operators can sectionalize circuits and reroute electricity remotely. This allows the Companies to limit the duration of an outage to minutes, rather than hours. The devices can restore service in as little as five minutes - a critical advantage, particularly in rural and remote areas. Smart devices also minimize field crew repair time by allowing them to target a smaller area to patrol and find the damage that requires attention.

The installation of automated smart devices is part of CMP's and NYSEG and RG&E's plan to modernize Maine's and New York's energy infrastructure, so it is stronger in the face of more frequent and extreme weather. Other initiatives include the deployment of tree wire, regular inspection and maintenance of pole infrastructure, and investments in substations and other projects.

With more than 10.5 gigawatts (GW) of generation capacity, Avangrid continues to expand its energy portfolio investing heavily in U.S. energy infrastructure. The Company advances its investment in grid modernization to meet surging demand and enhance system resilience, reinforcing its role as a leader in America's energy future.
