New partnership creates pathway from Schoolcraft to Wayne State’s health sciences programs

A new partnership between Schoolcraft College and Wayne State University is expanding opportunities for students pursuing careers in health sciences.

Under a newly signed transfer agreement, Schoolcraft graduates with associate degrees can continue their studies in the Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences program at Wayne State's Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

The agreement was celebrated on Wednesday, September 24, with a signing ceremony at the Mortuary Science building on Wayne State's campus.

"This new pathway agreement is a shared commitment to student success and to the future of health care," said Brian Cummings, dean of WSU Applebaum, in remarks during the ceremony. "This partnership honors the quality of Schoolcraft's academic programs [and] opens the door to completing our Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences. These students arrive with strong academic preparation and practical experience. What we provide is an environment that builds on that foundation-through mentorship, immersive learning and preparation for graduate study and professional practice."

The pathway recognizes the strength of Schoolcraft's academic programs while ensuring students receive maximum credit for prior coursework. At Wayne State, students can choose from concentrations designed to prepare them for graduate studies and careers across the healthcare spectrum.

By creating a seamless bridge for students to continue their education, the agreement emphasizes student mobility, career readiness and stronger community health outcomes.
