The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, will visit Asunción on March 13, 2026. During the visit, he will take part in a high-level event in the context of the Boards of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He will also hold a working meeting with his counterpart Rubén Ramírez to review main issues on the bilateral agenda including infrastructure, energy, trade, public security, and defense.
As neighboring countries, Mercosur partners and united by strong historical and friendly ties, Brazil and Paraguay share a wide-ranging agenda of bilateral and regional cooperation. Brazil is Paraguay's main trading partner and holds the largest stock of foreign direct investment in the neighboring country. In 2025, bilateral trade totaled more than $7.4 billion (a 2.5% increase compared with 2024). Paraguay hosts the third-largest Brazilian community abroad, with around 260,000 Brazilians.
