Denver Prepares for Significant Snow Event, including Deployment of the Residential Plows

Denver - Denver is preparing for a storm that's expected to bring significant snow accumulations to city streets today into tomorrow before temperatures rebound into the 50's on Sunday.

Denver's plow drivers will remain on duty to respond to the main streets, plowing and dropping deicing materials as needed. Denver will activate its residential plows starting tonight at midnight, while preparing to run two 12-hour shifts and monitoring conditions.

The residential plows:

  • take a single pass down the center of each side street
  • do not carry deicing materials
  • do not bring streets to bare pavement but remove the top few inches of snow, making the side streets more passable and helping drivers get to the main streets.

Snow is expected to fall later today at significant rates and travelers are urged to plan ahead and avoid driving in hazardous weather conditions.
