MONTPELIER, Vt. - Conservation advocate and leader Libby Johnson will serve as the National Wildlife Federation's next vice president of education and engagement. In this role, Johnson will lead NWF's growing efforts to inspire future generations to recover wildlife, protect clean air and water, address environmental injustices, and confront the climate crisis.
"When we connect families and students with nature and the outdoors in the classroom and beyond, we are building connections and passions that will last a lifetime," said Kim Martinez, chief program officer of the National Wildlife Federation. "Libby's strategic thinking will help NWF's education work grow and thrive at this critical moment for conservation. We're honored that she is joining the leadership team and look forward to seeing her build upon NWF's 90 years of work with students, teachers, and communities."
"The National Wildlife Federation has the unique ability to bring people together across geographies and generations - and to inspire them to save what they share," Johnson said. "I am honored to lead NWF's incredible education work, and to build bridges with teachers, families, and the next generation of conservation champions."
Johnson previously served as the National Wildlife Federation's senior director of program operations and as associate director of the organization's Northeast region. She also has worked in higher education, serving as managing director of development at VTDigger as well as a member of the executive leadership team at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
NWF inspires families, schools, teachers, and youth across the country to recover wildlife, conserve habitat, address the impacts of the climate crisis, and build and support thriving communities. NWF's education team works to provide youth with environmental literacy opportunities that foster leadership, inclusivity, and collaboration.
