The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen.
Brnabic thanked the OSCE for its continued support to Serbia's effort in implementing reforms and advancing democratic processes. She emphasised that cooperation with this organisation is of exceptional importance for the strengthening of institutions, the rule of law, and overall social development.
She particularly emphasised the importance of cooperation with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). She pointed out that significant progress has already been made in implementing this institution's recommendations. She added that work on the selection of new REM members is continuing, which is an important segment in strengthening the rule of law and the functioning of democratic institutions.
The officials discussed current regional and international issues, with particular emphasis on the importance of dialogue and preserving stability. Brnabic stressed that Serbia highly values the principled and constructive approach and role of the OSCE in supporting peace, cooperation and trust between states.
