WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02), Ranking Member of the House Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, released the following statement:
"The classified briefing by Trump officials held last night for U.S. House Members did not provide any clear answers to two basic questions: What imminent threat did Iran pose to the people and homeland of the United States on February 28 to justify a military strike without a Congressional declaration of war or authorization of use of military force, and what is the clear end game for this operation? Given the fact that six servicemembers have lost their lives and that we have tens of thousands of servicemembers in the region in harm's way, getting coherent answers to these questions is a matter of life and death. The war powers resolution bill scheduled for a vote in the House tomorrow is the best opportunity to restore a constitutional check on this conflict, and after the dissatisfying brief last night, I am even more determined to vote in favor of this measure to avoid another 'endless war'."
