1,500 programmers took part in the Polish HackNation 2025 coding marathon in Bydgoszcz. Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski awarded the winners of the MFA-designed challenge.
The programmers faced 16 tasks prepared by ministries, state-owned companies, and public institutions. They had 24 hours to come up with a suitable digital solution. One of the tasks, Scenarios of Tomorrow, was conceived by the MFA's Department of Strategy, Bureau of Digital Transformation, and Bureau of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
The task involved devising a prototype tool which uses advanced NLP (Natural Language Processing) technologies, data analysis (deep research), and scenario modelling to identify possible events and trends in international politics. The designed tool was tested on the example of a fictitious EU and NATO member state called Atlantis. The authors of the task emphasised that the aim of developing such a tool is to increase the ability to reliably identify future trends and adapt in a changing, uncertain international environment.
Twenty-five teams confronted the Scenarios of Tomorrow task. The authors of the AIDA project performed best. Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski congratulated the winners and presented them with their prize-a cheque for PLN 25,000.
Congratulations!
