São Paulo, April 16, 2026 - The production of the Netflix film The Pilgrimage has begun, starring Johnny Massaro and Rodrigo Santoro, directed by Vicente Amorim and produced by Gullane. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Paulo Coelho, one of the world's most widely read authors, with over 320 million books sold worldwide.
Currently filming in Spain, the story follows Paulo (Massaro) on a pilgrimage through the mountains, forests and fields of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Guided by the enigmatic Petrus (Santoro), he undergoes a series of trials that transform his search for self-knowledge into an adventure of mysterious encounters and invisible forces, a journey that tests the physical and spiritual limits of both men. The narrative blends the spirit of a road movie with the magical language characteristic of Paulo Coelho's work.
The Pilgrimage is directed by Vicente Amorim, who also serves as co-screenwriter. The screenplay is written by Luiso Berdejo and Gustavo Bragança. The film is produced by Caio Gullane, Fabiano Gullane and Miguel Ángel Faura, with executive production by Caio Gullane, Fabiano Gullane, Pablo Torrecillas, Ana Saito, Maria Cabello, Rodrigo Santoro and Vicente Amorim, and executive co-production by Viviane Zangrossi. The film also features cinematography by Azul Serra, art direction by José Tirado, costume design by Cris Kangussu, and makeup and hair by Natie Cortez.
Lara Tremouroux (Clara), Julia Konrad (Marina Astrain), Silvio Guindane (Roberto), Fabiana Gugli (Paulo's mother), Emílio de Melo (Paulo's father), Thelmo Fernandes (Clara's father), Isabel Guéron (Clara's mother) and Roberto Birindelli (Master) complete the cast. The European cast includes Manuel Manquiña (Hermit), Albert Pla (Magician), Gonçalo Diniz (Martim) and Elisabeth Bonjour (Madam Lourdes).
