Watch: Colt Ford Cancels Shows, Needs 'More Surgery' After Bus Crash: 'Every Artist’s Nightmare'

Colt Ford shared a new update in the weeks after his tour bus accident.

Ford, 57, said in a clip on Instagram on Monday (September 14) that the crash was "every artist's nightmare." He said he'd been "hurting little bit more than we realized," and he'd have to cancel his remaining tour dates for the year to undergo additional surgeries. The Georgia-born artist also confirmed new music on the way during his recovery. Ford said in his update:

"What's up, y'all? Colt Ford here. I just want to thank y'all so much for all the love, the support and the prayers I've gotten over the last few weeks since our bus crash. That's every artist's nightmare. And almost 20 years [into his career], and it finally happened. Unfortunately, I was hurting a little bit more than we realized. And I'm having to cancel the rest of the year, have some more surgery and hopefully get back out there next year for y'all. I ain't gonna let the devil win. But in the meantime, I'd already been working on some new music. I got about a handful of them. I'm gonna give it to you. They ain't gonna get me. They ain't gonna make me quit. I ain't no fake redneck. I'll see y'all next year. I love y'all. God bless."

Ford revealed in a post on August 12 that he'd been on the way to a show in Germany when the bus accident happened. First responders pulled him through a windshield. Ford said at the time, "the crew is a little banged up but we're all still here." Shortly afterward, Ford "successfully underwent shoulder surgery today to address injuries sustained in the recent bus accident. We're happy to share that the surgery went well, and Colt is now focused on resting, recovering, and getting back to doing what he loves," according to a statement posted on his Instagram account. "Colt is incredibly grateful for all of the prayers, messages, and support he's received."
