HONOLULU, Jan. 30, 2025 - Hawaiian Electric crews are making progress restoring power to approximately 39,500 customers on Oahu, Hawaii Island and Maui County who were affected by severe thunderstorms and powerful winds. This is down from about 54,000 at 6 p.m. Customers are asked to continue to plan for possible extended outages, potentially overnight, as the powerful storm system is still making its way across the island chain.
As of 8 p.m.,
Hawaiian Electric crews and contractors are working across our service territory to address outages, many caused by caused by downed trees and weather-related debris blown into our power lines. About 200 employees are working through the night to restore customers and more crews will be dispatched during daylight hours Friday for inspections and continuing repairs.
Because of the dynamic nature of the storm system, outage numbers represent a snapshot in time and are subject to change as additional customers are restored and more outages occur, sometimes in the same area. Customers can track current outages on the outage map at hawaiianelectric.com and mobile app. You can also report an outage with this tool.
Our priorities for restoration emphasize safety and essential community services. Restoration also will take place in a manner designed to affect the greatest number of customers first.
We are committed to keeping you informed
